If I Had Been A Poet

(a story of my wife and life)

I started writing this on Saturday morning, 30-May and finished it Sunday evening, 31-May 2009, on the eve of our 35th wedding anniversary. This is a very special poem to me because it says so much about her and how I feel about her.

Although it started without great ambition, it ended up being my longest and fullest poem yet. It describes with some irony, some passion and some honesty, views of my own self-worth and feelings for Barbara and how I see her place in the archive of my life as well as in the lives of others, including all creatures great and small, for whom she cares so passionately and consistently.
